- Slash Chords A slash chord has a note in the bass other than the root
of the chord. (Root of C chord is C, root of G chord is G, etc.) Block your high
E string. Let your 3rd finger gently touch it to stop it from ringing. You can
block your 5th A string or let it ring (whichever you prefer). A is a chord tone. Finger
1 = F# (3rd of a D major chord and scale) Finger
2 = A (5th of D major chord and scale) Finger 3 = D (Root of D major chord
and scale) Soloing - The chords in the
