The Tie is used to connect two notes of the same pitch, indicating they are to be played as one.
Our new notes are open G and a whole step higher to 2nd fret A. Watch for the 3rd between open G and open B. 
This is a tricky one! There is an interval of an 8th (known as octave) in measure 6 going from the high G to the open G.
